Who Is John Galt?

Atlas Shrugged's Online Marketing Director posted a YouTube video asking fans to submit a 2-3 second clip of themselves stating, "I am John Galt," which could be included in the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray releases.  Prescott came up with a clever and cute idea:

Today Was a BIG Day!

I moved out of my office at F&K, but more importantly...

And not only did Kira roll from back to tummy, but Ava walked!  William will be crawling any day now, too!  So many milestones for the cousins!

*I was actually not the first person who saw Kira roll from her back to her tummy - my mom was!  The irony of the fact that I quit my job because I wanted to be there for each and every of Kira's milestones and then the day I clean out my office and turn in my keys I missed this is not lost on me.

I Quit!

After four years at F&K, I've decided to stay at home with our precious Kira.  I notified my boss today.  While it really was a difficult decision to make, at the same time it was the easiest decision I've ever had to make (and Pres will tell you how indecisive I am).  I will miss my F&K "family," but I am thrilled with the "job" I have now and I couldn't be happier.  I am so grateful to Pres for making this dream come true.

Two Baby Showers in One Day!

Today we attended two - yes, two! - baby showers!  Both parties started at the same time, so we had to split the day between the beautiful mommies.

The first baby we celebrated was Liam Jonathan Klein.  The Klein family hosted a lovely party at the Del Rey Yacht Club.  It was fun for us to see Liam's family and friends celebrate his birth.  Too bad we couldn't stay for the dancing!

The second baby we celebrated was Little Dude "Ivan" Lefebvre.  Hillary's mom Carey, aunt Chrissy and sisters-in-law Megan and Allie hosted another famous Haynes gathering (*love* their parties!) at the Haynes' house.  Pres took Lady to Oak Grove park for a quick swim while Kira and I watched Hillary open gifts.

I am so excited for these two wondeful women!

The UCLA Language Lab

Today, Kira participated in a study being conducted by UCLA graduate students about whether babies can distinguish between languages.  She sat in my lap and listened to recordings of English and Japanese, and a student video recorded her reactions for analysis later.  (I wore headphones with music so I couldn't hear which language Kira was hearing at any particular moment and possibly influence her reaction.)  Afterward, Kira received a "Graduate of the UCLA Language Lab" bib for her participation!

Happy Birthday, "Little" Mary Ann!

What's This?!?

Progress in Rolling from Back to Tummy!

Kira has been rolling from tummy to back for a few weeks now, but just now she made great progress in rolling from back to tummy - she was on her side (she hadn't completed the roll from tummy to back), and she rolled back to her tummy!  I clapped and cheered "Yaaaaaaaay!" and Lady came to join the excitement.  Our little angel is growing up so fast!

Good Morning!

Thanks for the Winkel, Will!

Kira's Four-Month Appointment

This morning we took Kira to Dr. Raker for her four-month appointment.  Kira and I were so happy that Pres came!  Kira weighed in at 13 pounds, 0.5 ounces (40th percentile) and measured 24.3 inches long (57th percentile).  She also received her second round of immunizations: hepatitis B, Rotavirus (to prevent stomach flu), DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis); Hib (to protect against meningitis), pneumococcal (to protect against severe bacterial infections, ear infections, and meningitis), and polio.

After the appointment, we picked up sandwiches and ate lunch at a nearby park.
